TUSCANY TRAIL UPDATE | 08:10AM 3/6/16

"Still going 230miles in think I'm still leading"

LIVE TRACKING HERE

Today is the beginning of the third edition of the Tuscany Trail. As the name suggests, this ride will take entrants through the trails of Tuscany including sections of the famous Strada Bianche and a ton singletrack. Approximately 65% of the 2016 route is on unpaved roads. Of course, with off-road cycing and unpaved routage making for un-doubtably beautiful scenery and a panoramic experience, the Tuscany Trail is a captivating ride that will be a test of rider and equipment but an unmissable experience nonetheless.

Fewer roads mean even more singletrack adventures. In the third edition, the route sweeps through famous wine growing Chianti region. The mass start is from the magnificent Piazza Aranci in Massa (MS), and the finish is at Capalbio (GR).

The 'rules' of this ride are minimal. Unsupported, no time limit, no checkpoints. Just one route that you shall ride at your disposal.

Distance: 560km.

Total Ascent: 11,000mH

Rideable: 99%

Unpaved: 65%

Looking back through the previous editions of this race, and at the reportage of similar events you will see that the riders' spectrum of bicycles is vast. Fatbikes, MTBs, single-speed, and the increasingly common gravel bike. The most suitable choice is really down to the way that you plan to tackle the ride. All-day cruising comfort and terrain smashing? Fatbike. Singletrack burning? MTB. Going for compromise? Gravel.

MASON rider Josh Ibbett is a specialist in riding far and fast, on and off-road. And as reigning TransContinentalRace champion and a podium-finisher of the Dirty Reiver, he will be riding the TT fast. More details on his MASONAdventureSport bike to come soon, but know that: it's progressive; it's fast; it's perfect for this event.

We wish everyone involved with the Tuscany Trail the best.
