Here in Sussex, we’re unpacking a van full of bikes, having returned from Cyclingworld Europe in Düsseldorf, Germany. And wow, what a weekend we had.

We spent a hectic three days speaking to hundreds of the 25,000 cycling enthusiasts who gathered in the dramatic post-industrial space of Areal Böhler to check out the latest and greatest products in European cycling. Amid the hype and trendspotting, it was heartening to feel the enthusiasm that still thrives for handcrafted metal bicycles.

Now we’ve returned to the Barn, here are a few things from Düsseldorf we’re looking back on…

Now we are 10

There was a milestone moment for Dom and the team when, for the first time, we were able to fully line up all ten models in the MASON range, dressed in show-level spec and looking fabulous under the bright lights of the exhibition space.

It’s taken ten years to create this range of adventure bicycles, and we felt more than a little pride at the sight of what a Decade of Details actually looks like.

In Dom’s words:

We lined up all 10 models and it stopped me in my tracks. It was one of those ‘Woah, how did we get here?!’ moments. At this moment, our 10 years, 10 models and winning the Silver Award all sunk in and it felt like quite a milestone for our little brand.

ISO2 – ‘Best Gravel Bike’ Silver Award

The MASON ISO, long favoured as the bicycle of choice for serious adventurers, was honoured with a Silver Award in Cyclingworld’s Best Gravel Bike category.

Having built such a solid reputation among ultra-racers and off-road tourers, it was so exciting to see version 2 of the ISO get recognition from Cyclingworld’s panel of expert judges.

The ISO, stubbornly resisting any attempt to be pigeonholed, is a bike we’re really proud of. Thank you to Cyclingworld, especially Jörg Spaniol, who presented the updated ISO2 to a select crowd of journalists and bloggers, explaining its features and what makes it such a remarkable machine.

Germany loves adventure

We know German riders are big fans of MASON bicycles, but when we come to Düsseldorf, we get the chance to better understand why. It seems an appreciation for good design, careful detailing, long-distance comfort and thoughtful component choices is alive and well in this part of Europe – along with a great love and appreciation for the magic of metal tubes.

Alongside the ISO, bikes like the Exposure and Bokeh – all built for versatile multi-surface riding – were attracting particularly large crowds. The Macro, seen in prototype form at last year’s Cyclingworld, was back in its full production guise, garnering admiration from those who set their sights on ultra racing and serious bikepacking.

Let’s be honest: colours matter

We can study geometry charts and specifications all we like, but when we fall in love with a bike, carefully chosen colour plays a big part in the emotions we feel.

At Cyclingworld, this year’s chromatic star of the stand was undoubtedly AccursedOchre, seen on the Exposure and RAW, while we gathered some positive feedback on a new metallic green we trialled on the Resolution. Last year’s stand-out hue – FilterYellow – has moved onto our ever-popular Bokeh, while also, it seems, appearing around the show on so many other brands’ 2025 colour palates. We’re taking that as a compliment.

Titanium keeps getting better and better

Across the show, the subtle, exclusive class of titanium always attracts attention, and the MASON BokehTi, alongside the Aspect Integrale, were popular topics of conversation among riders who want to see what can be created when you aim for the very best.

Both these MASON titanium bicycles sport many design updates to help keep them at the forefront – with their re-profiled stays, new MASON-designed UDH dropouts, improved carbon forks and revised routing all getting noticed at this year’s Cyclingworld.

We’re in this together

With hundreds of brands at Cyclingworld, it’s always good to catch up with what our peers around the industry are creating. Our friends at Tailfin were next door, modelling a MASON Macro and a Resolution bedecked with their impeccably designed bikepacking luggage.

The use of dynamo power for lighting and electronics is a growing trend, as seen in dynamo hub wheelsets from HUNT and DT Swiss, as well as in impressive new lights from SON, whose team came to look at how many MASON models now sport careful routing options for dynamo-powered riders.

Nelson Trees is the force behind events like the Atlas Mountain Race and the Silk Road Mountain Race – challenges that have inspired several MASON models, so it was great to see him.

Maurizio from Dedacciai and Gianluca from Barco are important partners in our Italian manufacturing formula, so we enjoyed welcoming them to the stand to admire the fruits of what we develop, create and refine together. Grazie signori.

If you came to Cyclingworld, you’re probably feeling just as overwhelmed as we are by being in the presence of so much impressive equipment. But as you consider what you’ve seen, just ask us if you want to revisit any of the MASON models and options you saw. If you can’t wait to see us at our next show presence, why not plan a trip to Sussex instead? You are always welcome to take a closer look at what we can create for you at the MASON Barn.
