A 1000km ride around the Scottish Highlands and Islands isn’t something I'd normally want to face in a brand new pair of shoes but when the QUOC Gran Tourer II’s felt comfortable straight out of the box during a quick spin around my local loop I chucked them in the back of the van and off we went.

Fast forward a month and they’re put to the test in another way, hiking my way up a rock-strewn path towards the highest point on the Veneto Trail route through the Dolomites. Some would argue that a mountain bike and some flat shoes would have been a better option at this point, but here I was, scrabbling up the loose rubble pushing a gravel bike in SPDs.
