Weronika Szalas | Montenegro Madness
For as long as we've known Weronika Szalas, we've loved her appetite for adventure and for discovering new landscapes. Now, with her new MASON Macro, her horizons are broader than ever before.
Following her recent return from Montenegro, Weronika shared some thoughts as she preps for a big adventure to Asia.
So, what have you been up to, Weronika?
"The dust has now settled after the Montenegro Madness Women's Rally that finished in early May.
"60 women were brought together by Lael Wilcox and Komoot. We tackled a 700 km route with 15 000 m of climbing designed by Bea and Luca from the Montenegro Madness.
"My favourite thing about the week was that my older sister was there too. It was her first bikepacking experience! What a special opportunity to share this time together. We had it all from pushing our bike through the snow in the mountains to the sea swims during the hot sunny days on the coast.
"Montenegro is such a beautiful country inhabited by very friendly and helpful people. It’s impressive how varied its landscapes are within its relatively small space. I highly recommend it, especially for off road cycling!
What a special opportunity to share this time together
"It was also the first trip on my MASON Macro and one to test my setup before the summer. I love the way it rolls! I was also positively surprised that my SRAM AXS battery lasted almost an entire trip without charging. It was a perfect choice for the rather rough Balkan off roads.
"So what's next? Tomek and I are just about to set off for our multi month trip to Central Asia (slight travel fever as I type this). It’s time for the final bits of fine tuning our gear and getting the last bits of equipment together.
